The LGBTQ Alliance was formed following the Pulse nightclub shooting on June 12, 2016. Local LGBTQ organizations and community leaders in Orlando saw a need to come together, and formed a unified alliance in support of the community.
We are a conduit for communication, collaboration, and resource sharing to meet the needs of our diverse LGBTQ community and organizations.
Why are we doing this?
The LGBTQ Alliance was created because we believe in unity – and that in a time of tragedy, unity is more important than ever.
The LGBTQ community is diverse, including people of all cultures, ethnicities, races, perspectives and faiths. Above all, we are unified by our common experiences as LGBTQ individuals. What unites us is stronger than what divides us.
We must take this moment to mourn the lives that were lost. At the same time, we honor the courage of all LGBTQ individuals who fearlessly embrace and celebrate their identities.
